350 College Girls Kidnapped in Zamfara

About 350 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata Mafara local government area of Zamfara State have been reportedly kidnapped by bandits.

The incidence occurred in the wee hours of Friday, according to residents.

Residents said the bandits stormed the town in the early hours of Friday, shooting their way to the school and grabbing over 350 female students.

“They came in their numbers around 1:30am by my estimation. They were shooting aimlessly and making noise. They made their way to the girls’ school and took them away within an hour. I and a few other neighbors could come out only after they have gone. That was around 2:35am”, a source told Nigerian Sketch on Friday.

The source said about 35 girls who narrowly escaped during the attack have returned home to their respective parents.

The police command in the state has not issued any official statement on the incidence.

The Zamfara kidnap occurred at a time when the abduction of students in Niger State has not been resolve, and kidnappers have issued statements that they will starve their captives to death.
