ADUSTECH appeals to Kano govt for urgent interventions  

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, is in urgent need of some interventions to move it forward as an institution of learning.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, highlighted that the institution needs the intervention of Kano State government in providing accommodation, “especially when the students population is fast growing.”

He also said there is the need to address the problem of “staff manpower and deficit in the registration fees.”

Prof. Yakasai urged the government to consider staff of ADUSTECH for the foreign training which the state has embarked on as part of its educational policies.

The Vice Chancellor said these when the Special Adviser to Kano State Governor on Higher Education, Prof. Auwalu Halliru Arzai, paid a familiarization visit to the institution during the week,

A press statement signed by university’s Deputy Registrar, Media and Publications, Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi revealed that Arzai gave assurances that Kano State government has concluded arrangement for the construction of a befitting Senate building at ADUSTECH.

The statement indicated that “other projects slated for execution and captured in 2024 budget the Special adviser added, include landscaping and beautification works on the Campus.”

Abdullahi quoted Prof. Arzai to have said that “the state government had prioritized education, as such, it allocated 29.9 per cent of this year’s budget to education sector, sets up a committee on foreign scholarship, embarked on schools renovation and training programmes among others.

“The state government had also provided funds for 2023 NUC accreditation exercise, and approved series of outstanding allowances for the workers of the University.”

The statement also revealed that Prof. Arzai promised to intimate the Visitor of the university on the completion of female hostel renovation with a view ameliorating accomodation needs of the University.

Recall that the female hostel, which got burnt some time ago, is undergoing renovation work.

“Responding, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the Visitor to the University Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for series of interventions to the University within the short period of assumption of office”, Abdullahi’s statement said.

“He particularly highlighted on the release of fund for successful conduct of NUC 2023 accreditation exercise for 24 programmes, approvals for payment of hazard allowance, earned allowance, promotion arrears, upgrade of overhead and huge budgetary allocation to the University.

“He also commended Prof. Arzai for facilitating series of approvals for the University since his appointment, as he urged him to sustain the tempo.

“Some highlights of Special Adviser’s visit include Campus tour to University Library,  Students Hostel, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Agriculture, Central Research Laboratory, ongoing road network project courtesy of Federal Road Mentenance Agency and commissioning of Female Hostel Gate B undertaken by the management”, the press statement concluded.
