Booker Prize winning Nigerian author, Ben Okri, has joined hands with other literary personalities to launch an online training platform for prospective writers.

In a statement sent to Nigerian Sketch through Brittle Paper, the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Ainehi Edoro, said:

“We are happy to invite you to the official launch of our online learning platform for writers, called The Writing Room.

THE WRITING ROOM is an online learning platform offering free masterclass videos on fiction writing.

The launch event will feature Booker Prize winning author Ben Okri, as well as The Writing Room instructors: Chimeka Garricks (Character Development), Eghosa Imasuen (Setting), Zukiswa Wanner (Plot), Ellah Wakatama (Language and Style), and Molara Wood (Theme).

We designed and built this project from ground up, with you in mind. The courses are tailored to the specific storytelling needs of African writers in the early stages of their literary journey.

Ben Okri is a Nigerian poet and novelist, considered one of the foremost African authors in the post-modern and post-colonial traditions, and has been compared favourably to authors such as Salman Rushdie and Gabriel García Márquez. In 1991, Okri won the Booker Prize with his novel The Famished Road.
