Artists Pray Hard for Hardcore Rapper DMX to Recover from Heart Attack
Hardcore rapper, Earl Simmons, (aka DMX) has been on life support at a hospital in White Plains, New York, following a heart attack, according to his longtime attorney, Murray Richman.
The rapper suffered a heart attack on Friday around 11 p.m. at his home in White Plains and was taken via ambulance to a local hospital, where he remains on a ventilator, Richman said, according to CNN report.
The attorney said he did not know what may have caused the heart attack.
Richman said he has known DMX for 25 years and said Saturday evening that he has been in touch with the rapper’s family all day. He said he is aware of the rapper’s medical prognosis, but declined to comment on it.
DMX burst on the rap scene in the late 1990s with songs like “Party Up” and “Get At Me Dog.” His first five albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The 50-year-old is also an actor, and has appeared in numerous movies.
DMX was released from prison in January 2019 after serving a year behind bars for tax fraud.
Meanwhile, fellow artists have been sending prayers DMX’s way after the rapper was admitted to a New York hospital.
“DMX prayed over me once and I could feel his anointing. I’m praying for his full recovery,” Chance the Rapper wrote on Twitter Saturday (April 3).
“Prayers up for my brother DMX,” Ja Rule tweeted.
“Prayers for DMX and his family,” Missy Elliott echoed.
“Come on X plzzzz,” Lil Kim wrote to the MC upon hearing the reports. “We need you. Prayers all the way up for you bro.”
“I love DMX SO MUCH,” said SZA. “praying hard for the king.”
“Today is 4/3/21 – it’s only right that we celebrate the talent and genius of my brother @DMX on the 4,3,2,1 song. We Love you X get well fast,” LL Cool J wrote about the rapper, whose long-running career has seen five No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and 15 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
