Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies Gets Badly Injured
Alphonso Davies faces a spell on the sidelines after injuring his ankle in Bayern Munich‘s clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
The Canadian youngster – a frontrunner for the 2020 Golden Boy award – was given the nod at left-back ahead of Bayern’s club record signing Lucas Hernandez at the Allianz Arena, but the game was only three minutes old when his foot got caught in the turf. The Spaniard duly replaced him.
A badly twisted ankle normally takes up to eight weeks to overcome. Depending on the extent of the damage, Davies could miss Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 7 as well as the UEFA Champions League clash against Hernandez’s former club Atletico Madrid on 1 December.
Davies, still 19, scored three goals and assisted 10 more in all competitions last season as Bayern swept to the continental treble of Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League.
