Chinese suspect, Geng, denies killing Nigerian lover, Ummukulsum
Geng Quanrong, the alleged killer of a young Nigerian girl, said to be his lover, Ummukulsum Buhari, on Thursday denied killing her during his criminal trial before a High Court sitting in Kano.
The Chinese national, denied the content of the charge filed against him when it was read to him on Thursday.
Geng was arraigned before the court by Kano State government on a charge bothering on culpable homicide, contrary to section 221 (b) of the Penal Code.
Kano State attorney general, Musa A. Lawan, who’s the prosecution counsel in the case had presented an interpreter, Mr. Guo Gumru, from the Chinese Embassy to interpret English to Chinese language for the benefit of the defendant.
After the charge was interpreted to hm in Chinese language, Geng took his plea, denying the charge filed against him.
The prosecution thereafter requested an adjournment to commence the presentation f its witnesses.
Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji, who presided over the matter, adjourned the matter till 16th, 17th and 18th, November, 2022 for hearing.
Geng was alleged to have gone to the residence of the 22-year-old Ummukulsum Buhari on a rainy Friday night and attacked her with objects that caused her death.
