Crisis Dogs Kano APC, as 2 Senators, 3 Reps Petition Party Headquarters over Imposition
As the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano State moves towards electing new set of leaders for the party in the state on Saturday, issues around irregularities, imposition and exclusion have been raised by some aggrieved bigwigs in the party.
Senators Ibrahim Shekarau and Barau I. Jibrin, alongside House of Representative members Tijjani Abubakar Jobe, Nasiru Abduwa Gabasawa, Haruna I. Dederi, and Sha’ban Sharada wrote to the chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planninig Committee (CEPC) of the party to complain about the Kano leadership leaving “every party issues simplyin the hands of a certain group of very few individuals whose undemocratic mindset has thrown theparty in to devastating crisis.”
Joined by Alhaji Shehu Dalhatu of the Buhari Support Group, they write in a letter received by the party national chairman on Wednesday, they complained that “the Distinguished Senators are never consulted not (sic) carried along in almost every matter concerning the party.”
They also said “Appointees of the Federal government from the State are also disregarded and rendered worthless by the State party leadership.”
They faulted and rejected the congresses recently held by the state party leadership at the wards and local government levels through “so-called consensus” in the state because of their “exclusiveness and flagrant violation of all known civilized norms, rules and party guidelines.”
They vowed to resist “any attempt to by the state party leadership to carryout state congress in the same exclusive and kangaroo manner aimed at imposing party officers on the members of the party in the state.
They warned against attempts to destroy the party in the state and appealed to their supporters to remain calm and steadfast.
