Divorce is relief from suffocation, says comedian Bovi
Popular Nigerian stand-up comedian and actor, Bovi Ugboma, has stirred conversations online after revealing that he genuinely celebrates when married couples decide to divorce, describing it as a welcome relief from toxic unions.
Speaking during a recent appearance on The Morayo Show, the veteran entertainer argued that parting ways is far better than remaining in a marriage where one or both partners feel completely suffocated.
According to Bovi, marriages should not be a sentence of endurance and suffering. He emphasized that he values mutual happiness over societal expectations.

“I celebrate when people get divorced because I feel it means one or both people were not breathing well in the marriage. I will not suffer anybody, neither will I want anybody to suffer me,” Bovi stated frankly.
Opening up about his own personal life, the comedian admitted that his 17-year marriage has not been without its own fair share of difficulties.
Bovi, who tied the knot at a relatively young age, opened up about the heavy weight of marital responsibilities, revealing that he has shouldered the financial burden of his home since day one.
“That is not to say my marriage has been easy for 17 years. It has not. I got married at 29. I have been providing for 17 years nonstop,” Bovi added.
His candid take challenges traditional African societal norms regarding marriage and divorce, sparking mixed reactions among fans and commentators alike.
