#EndSARS Protest Resurges in Osun, as Lagos Braces for Action, Buhari Gives Stern Warning

Youths in Osun State on Monday stormed the streets of Osogbo to begin another round of the EndSARS protest.

The protesters who walked through the major streets in Osogbo up to the State House of Assembly called themselves #EndSARS Movement, and demanded to speak with the Speaker, Mr Timothy Owoeye on issues concerning hardship and good governance in the country.

Police authorities in the state said they were aware of the protest and monitoring the development to ensure that law and order are not compromised.

The State commissioner for information, Funke Egbemode, appealed to the protesters to take their grievances to the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up on police brutality by the state governor.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has cautioned against a repeat of violent protests across the country.

The president said on Monday while virtually declaring open the Chief of Army Staff’s Annual Conference 2020 that any act of hooliganism hiding behind lawful and peaceful protests would be dealt with decisively to ensure peace and stability in the country.

He said his administration is committed to the rights of citizens to embark on peaceful protests responsibly and in accordance with the laws of the land.

In Lagos State, citizens wrote Nigerian Sketch to say armed policemen and soldiers have been deployed in the Lekki toll plaza, apparently to forestall another round of #EndSARS protests.
