Four Die in Maiduguri Explosions Ahead President Buhari’s Visit
Reports on Thursday said at least four people were killed on Thursday after three explosions rocked Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The blasts occurred a few hours before President Muhammadu Buhari’s scheduled visit to the state, and left about eight persons injured.
Sources said that the explosion occurred in three different locations, including Bulumkutu, Ajilari Cross and Ayaje.
There were casualties recorded in Ayaje and Bulumkutu, however, no information has been obtained from Ajilari.
President Buhari is expected to commission an edifice donated by Mohammed Indimi to the University of Maiduguri.
He is also expected to commission some projects executed by the Borno State government.
Authorities in the state have refused to respond to enquiries by Nigerian Sketch on whether the president’s visit will be affected by the explosions.
Terrorists have been operating in the Northeastern part of Nigeria for about a decade now, and authorities in the country have been unable to put an end to their activities.
Borno State has been identified as the epicenter of terrorists’ activities in the country, being the place where Boko Haram and its leadership have always made their headquarters.
