Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa, graduates from University of Ibadan

Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa Akorede, has graduated from the University of Ibadan.

The musician, popularly known as ‘Saidon P,’ graduated from the Department of Political Science. He made a 2:1 (Second Class Upper Division).

“Today, I attended the Convocation Ceremony of the University Of Ibadan, where I graduated, bagging a Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc) in Political Science with Second Class Honour, Upper Division.

“The public should be aware that, King (Dr.) Saheed Osupa Akorede is a graduate of the prestigious University Of Ibadan, Class 21.’

Osupa is the toast of the elite who are fond of his songs, which are laced with history, philosophy, culture, logic, reasoning, and morality.

A fan, Isiaka Adekunle Ibrahim, a chartered accountant, who commended him for his feat, said it is worthy of emulation.

He said despite his heavy workload, tight schedule and other distractions, the eminent musician still found time to develop himself.

Ibrahim urged him to do Master’s and doctorate degrees later.

Who is Saheed Osupa?

Saheed Osupa was born in the Mosafejo area of Ajegunle, Lagos State but grew up as a child in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

His father, Moshood Ajiwere Layeye was a Wéré music artist and also an elder cousin of Fuji musician Ayinde Barrister.


Saheed Osupa went to Amuwo Odofin High School in Lagos, where he graduated in 1987. In 1992, he completed his National Diploma programme at The Polytechnic, Ibadan after studying Business Administration. He is an alumnus of the American International College where he studied Networking Operations. Now, he is a degree holder.

Fuji Music

Osupa started music professionally as a teenager in 1983 as a fuji artiste. His first album was titled Fuji Fa Disco, Followed by Fuji Blues. He has released over 40 studio albums including a 4-in-1 studio album titled Mr. Music. In 2008, Saheed Osupa was declared the “King of Fuji Music” by Ayinde Barrister.

Osupa has appeared in over 30 Yoruba films.
