Ganduje sacks religious affairs commissioner for disloyalty

Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has sacked the state commissioner for religious affairs, Dr Muhammad Tahar Adam.

The sacked commissioner was sacked for alleged unguarded utterances, lack of loyalty and running the affairs of his office as personal business.

A statement issued on Friday by the state commissioner for information and internal affairs, Muhammad Garba, said the removal was with immediate effect.

Garba said Ganduje has already forwarded the name of a nominee, Dr Nazifi Ishaq Bichi of Bayero University, Kano to the House of Assembly as a replacement.

He said the sacking of the commissioner and member of the state executive council followed his unbecoming attitude as a public servant holding sensitive office as well as his unguarded utterances.

Garba however did not give details of such “unguarded utterances”.

According to him, the former commissioner, popularly known as ‘Baba Impossible’, was also “found to be running the affairs of his office as personal business and even unilaterally reducing working days for the staff of the ministry, exempting Wednesdays and Fridays.”

The commissioner added that apart from operating without due consultation, Baba Impossible has not been loyal to the government.

Garba said Ganduje wished the sacked commissioner well his future endeavours.
