Gunmen in Northeastern Nigeria have attacked villages in Hawul local government area of Borno State, sending hundreds of people away from their settlements and raiding properties.
Reports from Borno State say the armed insurgents, dressed in military uniforms, arrived the area in a convoy of vehicles at 4pm on Friday when residents were celebrating Christmas.
Also at Tashan Alede village, near Shaffa town, the insurgents burnt many houses and shops after allegedly looting them.
There were reports of gunmen attacks in Shaffa town as well as Sabon Gari near Shani, as well as Sabo da Allah and Kukuruku communities in Borno State, while Garkida village in Adamawa State was attacked on Christmas Eve.
There have been issues over the safety of Nigerians under the Buhari administration, with the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) recently declaring that Nigeria as a country was no longer secure and safe under the Buhari regime.
When the president claimed that peace and stability have been restored in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states, a number of Northern groups countered that the president was lying outrightly.
