Gunmen bomb Imo State labour commissioner’s house

Gunmen on Friday bombed the country home of Imo State commissioner for labour and productivity, Chief Ford Ozumba in Umuhu Okabia, Orsu local government area of the state.

The police in the state have not confirmed the incident as of the time this story was published, Blueprint reported that the one storey edifice was bombed with Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The commissioner confirmed the incident, saying he was informed by his relatives at home, and that he was in Owerri as at the time of the incident.

He further informed that no life was lost even though the house was razed.

Ozumba is the third commissioner under Governor Hope Uzodimma’s two years administration that has had this experience.

Imo State attorney-general and commissioner for justice, C.O.C. Akolisa, and that of Information, Declan Emelumba, at various times had their country homes razed.

In June, 2021, gunmen  razed the country home of Imo Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Declan Emelumba in Oru East Local Government Area.

The incident, which occurred around, 1 am on Sunday destroyed all property in the Commissioner’s residence.
According to sources, the gunmen broke down his gate and set the house on fire without any hindrance.
