Gunmen Kill Immigration Officers, Bomb Headquarters In Abia
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters in Ubakala, Umuahia South local government area of Abia State, has been attacked by gunmen.
Eye witnesses told Nigerian Sketch that the gunmen bombed the NIS building and opened fire on personnel of the Service who were trying to escape, killing many in the process.
Also, the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) located at Umuagu, Umuahia was attacked by about 50 half-naked gunmen earlier on Saturday.
Some of the gunmen were seen hanging live cock around their neck while many of them are armed with AK47 rifles, a report said.
They attacked the security formation and set it on fire.
The state police command has not issued any official statement on the incident.
Attacks on the police have become prevalent in the southeastern part of Nigeria in recent time, and authorities in Nigeria have been unable to unravel the people behind such acts.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which readily comes to mind whenever such attacks are carried out, have continued to deny involvement.
