Suspected hoodlums have set the residence of ace political singer, Dauda Kahutu Rarara on fire in Kano Monday morning.

This happened less than an hour after the declaration of the Kano state governorship election winner.

Reports said thugs invaded the house, along Zoo Road, and started destroying valuables before setting the house on fire.

An eye witness said he saw some thugs carting away with valuables they grabbed from the house.

However, minutes after, the police were said to have dispersed the thugs while the fire was still burning.

“All you can hear is sounds of explosions from the house as the fire continues to damage belongings,” Daily Trust quoted another witness, Abdullahi to have said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had early Monday declared Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) as the winner of the governorship election.

Rara has been an ardent supporter of the All Progresives Congress (APC) and has produced many campaign songs for its candidates.

Rarara’s assistant, a Kannywood actress, Aisha Humaira, had earlier said she had been receiving threats from NNPP supporters after she pleaded with her fans in a viral video to vote for the candidate of APC, Nasir Yusf Gawuna, in the state governorship election.
