How Ganduje Escaped Bandits’ Bullets

How Ganduje Escaped Bandits’ Bullets

Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s entourage came under fire as they were returning to Kano from Zamfara State on Tuesday.

The incidence happened along Sheme-Kankara, a spot were bandits have been having a field day over time. A Zamfara State House of Assembly member was recently killed at the same spot.

Three security personnel attached to the governor’s convoy sustained varying degrees of injuries, but the governor was not in the convoy.

Ganduje had earlier joined his Jigawa State counterpart, Muhammad Abukarar Badaru when he was told that there was a minor issue with the utility vehicle that was supposed to convey him.

They were in Zamfara alongside other governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to officially receive the Zamfara State governor, Bello Muhammad Mattawale, who recently joined the party.

According to a journalist who was in the governor’s press crew, Ganduje’s convoy, without Ganduje in it, ran into a road block mounted by the bandits who opened fire on them.

“The ambulance attached to the convoy was completely shattered while the Federal Road Safety Commission’s vehicle in the convoy was riddled with bullets,” the pressman said.

He said the attack did not appear to be targeted at the governor specifically, but was a random attack by bandits on the prowl.

“No, I am not sure anyone was targeting the governor. The bandits were just out to do what are used to. We just ran into them,” he told Nigerian Sketch.
