I Can’t Comment on Insecurity ‘Cos I Faced Similar Challenge While in Power –Jonathan
Former Nigeria’s president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has said he has no justification to speak on the issues of insecurity in Nigeria, explaining that he had to deal with similar challenges while in office.
“I was there before and of course, you know there was a lot of insecurity. So, I am the very wrong person to make comments on the insecurity in the land.”
Jonathan spoke on the side-lines of the Exclusive Command Performance by the Commonwealth Community Choir in Abuja, on Friday.
“All what we can do is to collectively support the government, encourage the soldiers and other security operatives to do more for our safety,” he said in his typical humble manner.
He noted that insecurity is a world phenomenon and Nigeria isn’t an exception, therefore encourage the youth to use their talent to impress on the unity of the country.
Answering questions on whether he would contest the 2023 Presidential race, he said in a suggestive manner that “It is too early to talk about that.”
There have been insinuations that the Muhammadu Buhari administration is considering returning power to Jonathan in 2023.
