I’m Not in Dubai to Treat Any Ailment, CJN Discloses

Reasons have now emerged why the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, travelled to Dubai, causing his conspicuous absense at the swearing-in of 72 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) on Monday.
Speculations emerged after the swearing in that the CJN was flown out of the country after falling into critical health condition as a result of contracting COVID-19.
The Supreme Court spokesman, Festus Akande, refuted the claim, denying that the CJN contacted COVID-19 or any other ailment that needed the attention of foreign medical experts.
He maintained that the CJN was simply “unavoidably absent” and that there was no anxiety over his health.
Nigerian Sketch referered to his rebuttal as “sweeping” and “unconvincing*.
However, Nigerian Sketch on Thursday linked up with an associate of the CJN who explained that “We have just finished speaking now, and he found it strange that all these speculations are flying around about his health. You may wish to speak with him too.”
The CJN said he does not even have headache at the moment.
Asked why he was absent at important events within the legal circle, the CJN said he went to Dubai for an important conference prior to the swearing in of the new SANs.
He however said he seized the opportunity to go for a routine medical checkup which has been carried out successfully.
He dismissed the rumour about COVID-19 as absolutely false and denied that he is suffering from any form of dementia. He also said he was not in Dubai to treat any heart infections, assuring that he will soon be back to Nigeria.
