INEC Fixes Nov 9 for Supplementary Poll to Round Up Inconclusive Gov Election in Anambra

The Returning Officer of the Anambra State governorship election, Professor Florence Obi, has declared that a supplementary election will hold in 362 polling units in Ihiala Local Government Area on Tuesday, November 9.

Citing the constitution, Prof. Obi noted that election had to take place in those polling units for the election to be conclusive.

She noted that election did not take place in Ihiala because there were reports of insecurity in the area.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, leads with a total vote of 103, 946.

The final result is as follows:

Total valid votes: 229521

Rejected votes: 7841

Total votes cast: 237362.

National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Oye, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring that Saturday’s Anambra governorship election was credible.
Oye said this when he spoke in Awka on Sunday.
He said that Buhari had proven to be a father by giving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) free hands to conduct the election without interference.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has always been a father by allowing INEC to conduct free, fair and credible election in the country.
