KANO: Cancelled votes worrisome, as NNPP runs with wider margin with 4 LGs to go
After the collation of election results in 40 out of the 44 local government areas of Kano State, the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) appears to be cruising towards victory.
Official figures shows that NNPP garnered 806, 285 votes while the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) got 74, 4452 so far. NNPP was leading with margin of 71, 890.
Earlier results were a ding-dong affair between the two heavyweight parties, as they overtake one another with minimal margins.
However, later tallies shot the NNPP far ahead of its major rival, giving its supporters a feeling of victory.
But, a more careful peek at the results should give both parties some cause for worry, as the number of cancelled votes rises beyond expectation.
Nigerian Sketch has so far been able to tally about 11, 474 cancelled votes from just two local government areas as of the time this story was published, and if such cancellations continue at this rate, pundits say it could be the deciding factor at the end of the day.
Meanwhile, there have been reports of thugs blocking some areas of the state, waiting to wreck havoc if final election result did not favour their party. State Road, along Government House, is one area citizens have been warned not to ply for fear of attacks.
