Kano Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, Receives Staff of Office

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State on Saturday presented staff of office to the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

Recall that Bayero, who is from the Fulani Sullubawa clan, ascended the throne on the 9th of March 2020, following the deposition of his nephew, Muhammad Sanusi II by the governor.

Speaking shortly after presenting the staff of office, Ganduje urged the emir to work towards promoting peace and unity among his subjects.

The governor also advised the emir to distance himself from anything that could tarnish the image of the traditional institution.

Ganduje described Aminu as a man of the masses, urging the monarch to ensure the development of his domain like his late father did.

Earlier in his remark, the emir called on people of Kano to continue to respect constituted authorities and other leaders in the society.

He also urged them to continue to pray for peace and unity in the country while calling on the rich to support the poor in the society.

He promised to be fair and just to all manner of people, irrespective of their status in the society.

He also advised those in position of authority to fear God in all their dealings as each and everyone shall give account of his stewardship in the hereafter.

Nigeria’s vice president, Yemi Osinbajo; Senate Present, Ahmad Lawan; and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; governors of Lagos, Sokoto, Bauchi, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, Borno, Jigawa, Kogi and Gombe graced the coronation ceremony.

Also present at the coronation were traditional rulers from across the country, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III; Oni of Ife, Oba of Benin as well as emirs from across the country.
