In 2021, Nigeria Sketch did a report on the conflicting information regarding the commencement of the building in question.

Initial notice at the site of the project indicated that a ‘proposed modern sports complex’ was being erected, but after a while, when the site had been adequately cordoned and construction work already at advanced stage, another notice emerged signaling a ‘proposed commercial development.’

Unconfirmed report said the former governor leased the site to one of his blood relations.

Meanwhile, Abba Kabir Yusuf had threatened to demolish buildings in the state on public properties immediately after he was sworn in as governor.

He claimed that his predecessor was too arbitral in the allocation of government property in the state.

This is the first demolition carried out after assuming office on Monday, May 29th.

Also, on Friday, the governor directed the developer carrying out construction works at the Hajj Camp to stop the ongoing work.
