Kano govt sets to reset state media outfits’ attitudes to work – Dantiye
Kano State government is set to reset its civil servants’ attitude to work under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
State commissioner for information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, made this known to members of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) from Kano and Jigawa states that paid him a courtesy call at his office on Friday.
Daitiye lamented the decline in the quality of media ouput by the state-owned media outfits, saying there was a need foe re-orientation.
“Our media houses must change their attitude to work. This administration would not condone bad reportage and bad news casting from our broadcast media. As for the Triumph newspaper, there is the need to begin to have new hands that will take over from the veterans if we want to sustain its legacies,” Dantiye said.
He assured the editors that the government will give optimum support to the media as partners in progress.
Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Dr Sule Ya’u Sule, said the NGE members consider Dantiye as of their own and will support him to succeed in office.
“We want your tenure to be exceptional in terms of the way you will portray the government any your relationship with the government..
“We also want to assure you of our readiness to give you all necessary support that you may require from us collectively and individually,” Dr Ya’u said.
Dantiye is a former general-secretary and president of the NGE.
