Kano Govt’s Move to Secure N300 Billion Chinese Loan Faces Temporary Hitch
Kano State government’s move to secure loan from China Exim Bank to build a light rail project in the state has hit the rocks temporarily, and may even be completely halted.
Center for Awareness on Justice and Accountability (CAJA) and one Kabiru Saidu Dakata, had approached a Federal High Court sitting in Kano to seek for the stoppage of the move for loan.
The court on Tuesday however fixed February 2, 2021, for mention in the suit, ordering that the respondents in the suit, Kano State Government, Senate President, Kano State House of Assembly, Central Bank of Nigeria, Ministry of Finance, Debt Management Office, China EXIM Bank and China Embassy, to be put on notice to show cause why the applicants prayers for an interim injunction should not be granted
The China EXIM Bank and Chinese Embassy would be served through substituted means by serving the court processes on at Chinese Embassy in Abuja.
