Kano PCACC Arrests Consumer Protection Director over Bribery

Kano PCACC Arrests Consumer Protection Director over Bribery

The Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has arrested the director of quality assurance of the Kano Consumer Protection Council, Bello Alkarya, for allegedly receiving bribes.

PCACC chairman, Mahmud Balarabe, said Alkarya has been detained after he was caught in the act.

He said, “We have an officer of the State Consumer Protection Council arrested red-handed, and we are investigating the matter because for now I personally don’t have details about his arrest but he is in our cell”.

In the last few months, another director of the council was said to have been arrested after being accused of also collecting bribes.

Recall that the Department of State Services (DSS) last week detained the chairman, Kano Consumer Protection Council, General Idris Bello Dambazau (rtd), for alleged economic sabotage.

Consumer Protection Council’s credibility hit an all-time low following the deployment of its former boss, Baffa Baba Dan’Agundi, as the seizure of illicit drugs and food products ceased.

As it is, there are a lot of petitions against the council’s chairman, and a few of the petitioners have already began moves to institute legal actions against him.
