Kano PCACC’s Muhuyi Magaji back-pedals, agrees Ganduje dollar videos not doctored
The chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, has reversed his earlier position on the videos showing ex-governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje allegedly stuffing dollars into his gown.
Contrary to his earlier position that the vidoes were doctored, Rimingado now said forensic analysis has confirmed that the dollar videos were authentic.
The chairman fell out with his former benefactor (Ganduje) and has suddenly switched from a staunch Ganduje defender to a persecutor.
Speaking at ‘A One Day Public Dialogue on Anti-Corruption Crusade in Kano’, on Wednesday, the chairman of the agency said the authenticity of the videos had been confirmed, according to a Daily Trust report.
He said since the release of the footages, people have been challenging the commission under him to prove the innocence or otherwise of the former governor in the matter.
He claimed that his commission commenced investigation in 2018 but could not go far because Ganduje, who was governor at the time, had immunity.
This claim could not be supported by fact or reason, given the reality that always flared up in anger any time he was urged to investigate the video at the time he was enjoying the ex-governor’s patronage.
Also, the ex-governor or any governor in Nigeria, did not have immunity against investigation.
Muhuyi Magaji’s present position on the videos is being viewed with suspicion, as many think he is only just revealing the truth he has earlier known and deliberately concealed.
