KANO: Security forces prevent access to Emir Bayero’s palace, detain 17 suspected thugs

Security measures were on Wednesday heightened around the palace of the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

Security operatives said this action was prompted by credible intelligence reports indicating a planned violent protest against the emir.

The situation escalated when a viral video circulated, suggesting that certain youths were organizing an attack on the Nasarawa emir’s palace with intentions to evict Emir Bayero.

In response to these threats, security agencies took steps to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order. The police, in collaboration with other security forces, have deployed personnel and resources strategically throughout Kano Metropolis. This includes blocking access to key areas around the emir’s palace and reducing traffic on nearby roads to ensure public safety.

Arrests

As part of these security operations, 17 individuals suspected of being involved in planning the violence were arrested. These suspects were reportedly found in possession of dangerous weapons, raising concerns about their intentions and the potential for unrest.

The police have stated that investigations are ongoing and they are committed to bringing those responsible for inciting violence to justice.
