KARMA commences reconstruction of collapsed 3-cell Box culvert at Gwarzo

Kano State government has begun the reconstruction of the Danya, Kwakwaci Box culvert in Gwarzo local government area.

The culvert collapsed due to heavy flood during the last rainy season.

The failed Box culvert, with a legacy spanning over seven decades, is going to be reconstructed by the Kano State Roads Maintenance Agency (KARMA), the agency responsible for such kinds of project through direct labour.

This followed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s September directives to KARMA to reconstruct the collapsed Box culvert.

The governor further instructed the agency to utilize top-quality materials, ensuring the Box culvert’s longevity and dependability against any future challenges.

Meanwhile, KARMA has vowed to strictly adhere to high-quality construction standards, according to its Managing Director, Alh. Hassan Danbappa.

Recall that as far back as July 23, 2019, Kano State House of Assembly adopted a motion calling on the state government to quickly reconstruct the bridge linking Shanono, Gwarzo and Bichi local government areas of the state.

The bridge which collapsed to heavy downpours, also links Katsina and Kaduna states, as well as parts of Niger Republic.

the then state lawmaker representing Bagwai/Shanono constituency, moved the motion under matters of urgent importance during the assembly’s sitting.
