Ndume to Withdraw His Suretiship for Maina for Lack of Trust

Ndume to Withdraw His Suretiship for Maina for Lack of  Trust

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume, has said he is withdrawing his suretiship for former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Force Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, because according to him, the later was not trustworthy.

Maina, who is being prosecuted by the EFCC on N2 billion money laundering charges, had jumped bail and fled the country.

Maina last attended court in July and had subsequently missed up to six court sessions since Sept. 29. His surety, Senator Ndume, was imprisoned by the court for his inability to produce him in court but later granted him bail after spending few days in detention.

Ndume, in an interview with newsmen on Friday, said Maina’s action has shown that he is not trustworthy.

He commended the Inspector General of Police and other security personnel that were involved in the arrest and extradition of Maina.

He said the development has established the fact that the Nigeria Police Force is up and doing.

He said, “I commend the Nigeria Police Force for executing the bench warrant issued on Maina by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

“This has shown that the NPF is not a write-off.

“They are professionals under the able leadership of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

“With the successful arrest, extradition and subsequent remand of Maina at the Kuje Correctional Centre, I will proceed to direct my legal team to begin the process of withdrawing my suretiship for Maina with immediate effect because his action has shown that he is not trustworthy.”
