Nigerians Flood Buhari’s Twittter Account to Blast President over ‘Usual Lame’ Response to Terrorist Attacks
Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, has not been spared by his countrymen on his official Twitter account since Monday evening, as they react to his tweet on action he said he would take to curb terrorism in Nigeria.
Buhari tweeted a statement on the dastardly and gruesome killing of rice farmers in Zabarmari, Borno State by terrorists on Saturday.
The president tweeted that “Nothing is more important than ensuring the security of lives and property of Nigerians. Everything is secondary when security is at stake. I will ensure that more resources are made available to the military and other security agencies to prosecute the war against terrorism.”
He also wrote: “As we mourn all the lives lost at Zabarmari, the Armed Forces have been given marching order to take the fight to the insurgents, not on a one-off, but on a continuous basis, until we root out the terrorists.”
He added that “We will intensify our cooperation with neighboring countries on bilateral and multilateral levels, to ensure that there is no hiding place for the terrorists.”
The responses that followed Buhari’s tweet from Nigerians must be a shocker to the president for, if has had meant it to assuage his countrymen, it had actually attracted the unexpected result.
Nigerians form all parts of the country told the president pointblank that he had failed his country, and that he had overused the tactics of speaking ‘grammar’ without taking real action which they said they are tired of.
Some Nigerians asked Buhari if he would be issuing what they termed lame statement if any of his biological children was killed by terrorists.
They also asked him either take the first practical step in real action by firing his security chief or resign if he is more concerned about his loyalty to his friends than to his country and the millions of Nigerians who voted him to power.
A number of the reactions were satirical, skeptical, outright mockery and even direct abuse on the president and his government.
