Military High Command in Nigeria has said its troops have killed a prominent Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) commander, Abubakar Dan-Buduma and 62 other terrorists.

It also said the troops equally arrested 79 others and rescued 179 kidnapped victims across the North West within three weeks.

The spokesman for the military, Maj.-Gen. Benard Onyeuko, told reporters in Abuja on Thursday that 592 rustled cattle were recovered.

He said the terrorists’ informants and logistics suppliers were also arrested in different theatres of operations between April 7 and 28.

Onyeuko stated: “Troops neutralised 23 terrorists, rescued 619 civilians, and arrested 19 terrorists. Troops responded to a distress call of terrorists’ attack at Wanzamai in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.”

He said the troops had continued to record successes across Katsina, Zamfara and Kaduna State, leading to recovery of 45 different assorted weapons, 80 rounds of different caliber ammunition and 50 motorcycles during the period.

“Troops also rescued 179 civilians, neutralised 62 terrorists and apprehended 100 terrorists. All recovered items, rescued and apprehended terrorists were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action,’’ he said.
