NOT IN KANO: Hisbah disrupts homosexual wedding event, arrests 15 female guests

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 19 youths at an event centre in the metropolis for allegedly attending a same-sex wedding programme.

The Board was quoted to have vowed that such an “unnatural act would not be allowed to take its root in Kano State.”

Reports said the suspects, who were in their early 20s, were at the event centre to witness the wedding of two suspected homosexuals, identified as Abba and Mujahid.

Hisbah officials were said to have stormed the scene before the commencement of the wedding rites, as 15 females and four males were arrested.

Confirming the incident, the Commander General of the board, Sheikh Harun Ibn Sina, said the arrest was made after a report from a resident.

He said the duo tagged as bride and groom, Abba and Mujahid, escaped after the arrival of officials of the agency.

The commander-general said the organiser of the event, 21-year-old Salma Usman, was in custody, adding that the board would intensify efforts to arrest the fleeing couple.

He said the board would hand over those in custody to the police for necessary action, as most of the ladies claimed to have been invited for the wedding from neighbouring states.
