The Faculty of Law, Bayero University Kano (BUK), is set to get an annual endowment fund award for its best mooter.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Nureini Jimoh, disclosed this as he requested for the university’s approval to commence the award.

He revealed the plan during the presentation of reading materials and other items to the faculty on Monday.

Nureini Jimoh Legal Support Foundation in collaboration with Nureini Jimoh (SAN) Chambers presented Supreme Court Law Reports from 1974 to date to the Law Faculty.

The items, which Mr Jimoh said were meant to support legal research, were worth over N5 Millon, according to estimates.

He also donated the sum of N4 million to 100 indigent law students in the University at the rate of N40,000 each to subsidize their school fees.

In a similar vein, he gave financial support of N500,000 each to the National Association of KANO State Law Students (NAKLAS) as well as the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU) to foster their activities.

The event, which took place at the Court Room, Faculty of Law, BUK, was witnessed by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Sagir Adamu Abbas, who served as the Chief Host; and the Dean, Faculty of Law, who served as Host.

According to Jimoh, all these gestures were his way of giving back to the community and contributing to the development of others who are in dire need of assistance.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said he knew how it felt to be an indigent student, haven passed through the rigour himself, adding that he has adopted the policy of assisting others wherever he can.

He called on others to also give whatever that can to help needful students attain the education that will secure their future.

Jimoh stated that ”I see myself as a seed planted by Almighty Allah. My best ambition is to support humanity. I came from a humble background.

“The only way I thank Almighty God is to look back and hold my conscious as a Muslim, a Lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria.”

Jimoh told Nigerian Sketch reporter that his Foundation also does other things to assist the larger society.
