Pinnick Summons Eagles Technical Crew, as Fans Call for Rohr’s Sack
President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has summoned Super Eagles’ technical adviser, Gernot Rohr and his technical crew to a meeting on Saturday after the Super Eagles’ unsatisfactory outing against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State on Friday.
NFF’s media department revealed on Friday that Pinnick’s scheduled meeting with Rohr’s crew will asses Eagles’ poor performance on Friday.
The Eagles threw away a four-goal lead to delay their qualification for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations as The Leone Stars seized upon the lazy performance of their rivals draw the game 4-4 on Friday.
The Eagles were thought to have sealed the game by half time as they led 4-1 but their second half lethargy saw the visitors make a comeback scoring three unreplied goals in a 14-minute spell.
NFF media department said Pinnick addressed the Eagles after the game and charged the players to put the disappointment behind them and be ready to give their all and redeem their image in Freetown on Tuesday.
Nigeria still lead Group L with seven points from three games while Sierra Leone are third with two points from after three matches.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles fans have called for the sack of the national team coach Gernot Rohr and the re-hauling of his team following their lethargic performance against Sierra Leone in Friday’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Benin City, Edo State
The fans were angry that Eagles have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five games, with their last coming in the AFCON third place match against Tunisia.
The fans lamented that was unable to win in their last three games, calling for the coach to be replaced at this point.
Bala Ado Maina said “the coach’s technical deficiency has already manifested at the last African Cup of Nations. We had all it took to reach the final except a good technical direction. Now is the time to let go of this man before fans will turn against the NFF.”
Clement Ezekiel said he does not trust Rohr to take the Eagle to the “promised land because he lacks what it takes to rise high. NFF should just sack the man and stop wasting our resources on him.”
