Pope Francis Prays for Boko Haram Terrorists

Pope Francis Prays for Boko Haram Terrorists

Pope Francis has prayed for the hearts of Boko Haram terrorists to be converted to God, saying the offences they commit offend God’s name.

The Pope condemned the killing of farmers in Zabarmari, Borno state, Nigeria last Saturday by Boko Haram terrorists who slaughtered over 43 of the farmers in cold blood.

He spoke during his virtual weekly general audience on Wednesday where he commiserated with families of the slain farmers and prayed that the “hearts of those who commit such horrors” would be converted.

“I want to assure my prayers for Nigeria, which unfortunately once again has been bloodied by a terroristic massacre,” the Pope said.

“May God welcome them into his peace and comfort their families, and may he convert the hearts of those who commit such horrors, which gravely offend His name.”

Saturday’s killings have attracted global condemnation and put the government in Nigeria under pressure, as Nigerians lament the lack of political will to fight the terrorists for over five years since President Muhammadu Buhari took over.

Nigerians have said they are fed up with verbal reactions from their government and want action.
