Portable arrested over unpaid G-Wagon debt

The Lagos State police command on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of Nigerian musician, Potable, for allegedly refusing to pay the debts he incurred when he purchased a G-Wagon from a car dealer in the state.

Reports said Portable, during the purchase of the vehicle worth N27m, paid only N13m and refused to pay the N14m balance.

The dealer claimed that whenever he contacted the musician to pay the balance, he usually claimed that the vehicle was bad.

When efforts to get Portable to pay the balance proved abortive, the car dealer reported the matter to the police resulting in the policemen detailed to investigate the case arresting him on Tuesday.

When contacted by our correspondent, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Portable had been arrested.

He said, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27m, paid N13m and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”

Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, was born on March 12, 1994, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ogun State. Portable ventured into the music industry as a rapper and singer, gaining recognition for his unique style and energetic performances.

In December 2021, Portable began collaborating with notable Nigerian artists like Olamide and Poco Lee. His singles such as “Zazu Zeh,” “Kuku Do Ritual,” and “Hello Baby” garnered attention within the music industry. Portable’s partnership with these artists helped propel him to stardom, showcasing his versatility as a songwriter and performer.

Controversies and Legal Issues

Despite his growing success, Portable faced controversies throughout his career. In March 2023, he was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command following an altercation with fellow artist Poco Lee. The incident led to charges of assault against Portable, highlighting the challenges he encountered in navigating fame and public scrutiny.

Personal Life and Family

Portable is married to Omobewaji Oluwaferanmi Ewatomi, with whom he shares a son named Akorede Omolalomi Badmus born on December 10, 2022. His family life adds another dimension to his public persona, showing a more personal side to the artist behind the music.
