Pundit brings theory why Henry can’t be Premier League GOAT ahead of Lampard
SPORTbible’s Twitter polls that asked football fans to have their say on the so-called GOAT of the Premier League voted Thiery Henry as the best ever, but a Nigerian football pundit has registered his disagreement.
He agreed that Henry was such a fantastic player, but disagreed that he was better than Frank Lampard.
Henry featured in the first poll alongside Premier League all-time leading scorer Alan Shearer, United legend Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard.
The 1998 World Cup winner won the lion’s share of the vote and progressed to the final poll alongside Ronaldo, who finished runner-up in the initial poll.
Rooney won by a landslide in the other Twitter poll, while Chelsea legend Frank Lampard finished second ahead of Manchester City hero David Silva and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
For the final round of voting, Henry cemented himself as the undisputed Premier League GOAT by beating Rooney, Lampard and Ronaldo.
However, Sadiq Abdullateef, the editor-in-chief of a Nigerian online news medium, News Point Nigeria, has his own theory on why Lampard should be Premier League GOAT ahead of the pack.
He wrote in response to Nigerian Sketch’s story that “Henry was an awesome player but I still think Lampard tops this lot – for consistency and trophies.
“Lampard scored 177 goals in 609 Premier League appearances for West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester City, all from midfield – MIDFIELD. How on earth did he do that?”
Do you think Lampard should have emerged the GOAT?
