See 10 football superstars courted by Saudi Arabian League

Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and Roberto Firmino are among the superstar players who are being linked with a sensational move to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Pro League shot to fame following Al Nassr’s blockbuster transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, who departed Manchester United.

Ronaldo has talked up the league, claiming it could become the fifth best division in world football.

“If they continue to do the work that they want to for the next five years, I think the Saudi League can be the 5th best league in the world,” he said in a glowing review.

More big names have been tipped to follow the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to the Middle East, with a host of Saudi clubs looking to lure some top stars to the league.

According to reports via France 24, Benzema, Ramos and Firmino are wanted by Saudi authorities ahead of the new Saudi Pro League season.

Sources close to the negotiations said Saudi authorities are ‘in contact with more than 10 players, many of them won the World Cup or the Champions League, to join the Saudi league next season’.

Lionel Messi is high on their list, too, as the World Cup winner is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old is thought to be keen on returning to Barcelona, but the Saudi authorities are hellbent on snapping up the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Angel Di Maria, Luka Modric, N’Golo Kante, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Hugo Lloris are also being eyed up.

The Saudi authorities are aiming to ‘seal most of the deals’ before the new season starts on August 11, with the targetted players receiving ‘quite lucrative offers’.
