Senator Abbo to Pay N50m for Assault on Woman in Sex Toy Shop
Senator Elisha Abbo whose video clip assaulting a lady in an Abuja sex toy shop went viral last year has been ordered by a High Court in the federal capital territory on Monday (today) to pay the sum of N50 million to the lady in question.
In Suit CV/2393/19 (Osimibibra Warmatte v Senator Elisha Abbo) the court found the senator liable in a civil prosecution weeks after a criminal prosecution against him failed at a Magistrate Court in Zuba, Abuja, where the court acquitted in an assault case instituted against him by the police.
Nigerian Sketch reports that his counsel made a no-case submission which the Magistrate upheld in the criminal prosecution.
Justice Samira Bature of the FCT High Court gave the order in her judgment on the fundamental rights enforcement suit instituted by Warmate against the senator for the assault the senator was seen perpetrating on camera in March 2019.
There have been rumours that the fiery senator had entered into an amicable settlement deal with the woman, even though Nigerian Sketch could not confirm this.
