Sevilla face La Liga relegation danger
La Liga giants, Sevilla, are currently going through a tough decline that leaves them in real danger of relegation.
The club based in Andalusia are one of the most well-known clubs to ever come out of Spanish football.
In their history, they have tasted La Liga triumph once in 1946. Sevilla also hold the record for the most Europa League titles with six having won three in a row between the 13/14 and 15/16 season.
Last season, under the guidance of Julen Lopetegui they were challenging for the title at one stage but eventually fell away and finished fourth.
However, this season has been nothing short of an utter disaster as they currently sit in 19th place in the La Liga table.
Lopetegui was sacked in October after losing five of his last eight matches in charge. But new boss Jorge Sampaoli is currently having a torrid time in charge of the famous club.
In 17 matches so far, Sevilla have only won three whilst losing eight, which is already double the amount of games they lost last season. On current form, they are in real danger of being relegated come the end of the campaign.
Club ultras have also sounded out a severe warning as reports have claimed that they sprayed the words “If we go down, you will have nowhere to hide” on a wall at their training centre.
Sevilla’s Champions League journey was also cut short after finishing third in their group between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.
However, they do have a chance to get their hands on a potential seventh Europa League title but it looks like they would need a miracle to achieve that.
Their awful form has led to reports that Sevilla are beginning their search again for a new manager.
According to Spanish news outlet Fichajes, club director of football Monchi is now thinking of sacking Sampaoli. One of the names mentioned was Jose Bordalas, who has a reputation for physical and intense football from his time managing Getafe and Valencia.
Sevilla are back in action on Tuesday night as they take on Alaves in the Copa del Rey, before a crucial La Liga clash against Cadiz, who are currently one point ahead of the Seville club in the table.
