SHOCKER: Married Edo woman who feigned kidnap caught chilling in Delta hotel with lover
A married woman identified as Oluchi Ukpomwan, who was reported kidnapped in Edo State, has been apprehended by law enforcement officers after being discovered in a hotel room with her lover in Delta State.
The shocking revelation came after her family, friends, and associates had launched an aggressive fundraising campaign to secure her release from what they believed was a life-threatening abduction.
The drama began when family members reported to the Edo State Police Command that Oluchi had been abducted around the Ikpoba Hill area of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.
Shortly after her disappearance, the family received a staggering N50 million ransom demand from the supposed kidnappers. The amount was later negotiated down to N20 million. Desperate to save her mother, Oluchi’s Canada-based daughter, Anita, launched a public appeal to raise the required funds.
How the police cracked the case
The scheme unraveled when police operatives used intelligence tracking to pinpoint the location of the suspects.
According to a police source cited by Punch, investigators tracked a phone number linked to the operation to a hotel in Ubiaroko, Delta State.
“Police traced the number of the man to a hotel in Ubiaroko, Delta State. They met the man and the kidnapped woman inside a hotel,” the source revealed, adding that the woman’s husband was immediately notified of the discovery.

In a viral video addressing the incident, Oluchi’s daughter, Anita, expressed profound shock and heartbreak, confirming that the entire kidnapping was a hoax orchestrated by her mother and her lover to extort money from the family.
Fortunately, no ransom was paid before the police intervention.
“My mum has been released. My mum is involved in this kidnapping case. I only did what I did to save my mum,” Anita said, fighting back tears. “We were called that my mum has been released. We didn’t pay the kidnappers. The money is intact. We are going to make a refund. We involved the Police from the beginning. We now know it was not a real kidnapping.”
Anita added that investigators told the family that her mother and the lover had planned to pocket the N20 million that was being actively raised.
“This has shattered my family. My dad has some health issues. This is so unfortunate,” she lamented.
The Harmony Ladies Club, a social organization to which Anita belongs, also released a statement via WhatsApp expressing their dismay. The club had swiftly mobilized emotional, logistical, and financial support upon hearing of the alleged abduction.
“When news of her alleged abduction broke, the club acted swiftly in good faith. Out of sisterhood, love, and a sense of community responsibility, we rallied immediately,” the statement read, noting their absolute shock at the police findings.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, CSP Moses Yamu, stated that the authorities have cracked down on the syndicate.
“I can confirm the incident and also let you know that four people have also been arrested in connection with the incident,” CSP Yamu said.
The police command noted that a full investigation into the matter is currently ongoing, and the suspects will face prosecution upon completion of the inquiry.
