Tears, sorrow as Buffalo Bills star, Damar Hamlin, collapses in the middle of NFL game
Buffalo Bills star Damar Hamlin collapsed in the middle of an NFL game.
The safety player seemed fine after tackling Bengals wide-receiver Tee Higgins during the clash between Buffalo and Cincinnati.
He got up off the ground but then dramatically crashed back down.
It’s unclear what caused the 24-year-old to collapse.
Fox Sports reporter Joe Danneman claimed: “[Hamlin] has a pulse, but is not breathing on his own. He is being transported to UC. Needed AED and CPR on the field.”
Players from the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals came together in a huddle while medical staff were working on Hamlin.
ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salter says NFL players were ‘openly crying’ while the ordeal was going on.
“So much emotion down here on the Bills sideline right now,” Salter said.
“After Hamlin was taken away by the ambulance the players came to their sideline and they just looked devastated.
“At one point Stefon Diggs tried to re-focus everybody, he called everybody to gather around him. I could hear him trying to fire them up but after that again players back to the bench, looking devastated, hugging each other and openly crying.”
News Corp says the game was set to be restarted, however it’s now been temporarily suspended.
“Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field by team and independent medical staff and local paramedics. He was then transported to a local hospital Avhere he is in critical condition.
“Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills.
“We will provide more information as it becomes available.
