Manchester City overshadowed Arsenal with a 3-1 victory at The Emirates Stadium on Wednesday to overtake them at the top the Premier League table
City got the lead in the 24th minute when an underhit back pass by Takehiro Tomiyasu was ruthlessly punished by Kevin de Bruyne’s composed lobbed finish.
Arsenal equalised from the spot in the 42nd minute, Bukayo Saka sending Ederson the wrong way after the goalkeeper fouled Eddie Nketiah in the box.
Pep Guardiola’s side thought they had been awarded a penalty of their own in the 57th minute, but VAR ruled that Erling Haaland was offside prior to being fouled by Gabriel Magalhaes.
Fifteen minutes later though, Jack Grealish gave the visitors the lead for good. Haaland added City’s third 10 minutes after that to put the game out of reach.
Arsenal fall out of first place for the first time since August after failing to win three straight league matches.
