We must ask where our governor is – Ondo PDP
The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it would be “insane” for anyone to think that the people of the state do not have the right to demand for their governor, Rotimi Akeredolu’s whereabouts.
The governor’s aide, Doyin Odebowale had while featuring on a national television, described those asking for the whereabouts of Governor Akeredolu as mischief makers, saying the PDP cannot force the governor to return to the state.
On Tuesday, protesters from the opposition party gave Akeredolu a 24-hour ultimatum to address the people of the state and return to his office in Akure, the Ondo State capital, within three days or resign from office following his absence.
Recall that the governor has been running the state from Ibadan, Oyo State, since his return to the country from a medical trip abroad, a development that is causing serious concerns among the opposition in the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, said Odebowale’s argument was illogical.
The party said it was a measure of ignorance for Odebowale to claim that the opposition party has no business demanding for the whereabouts of the governor.
“On a good day, it would have been unnecessary to react to Doyin Odebowale’s illogical argument about why Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has not been seen in Ondo State, because he who drums for a madman is himself insane.
“However, to say that PDP has no business demanding for Mr Governor’s whereabouts is a measure of his ignorance of what is expected of a governor that has been missing in action for more than six months,” the PDP said.
