What to expect as Samsung launches Galaxy S24 today

Samsung is about to launch the new Galaxy S24 series later tonight, and the company hopes the new phones might change the smartphone experience for good.

It is expected that the major announcement to be Samsung’s implementation of Generative AI features in the Galaxy S24, aiming to compete with the Google Pixel 8 series and the iPhone 15.

However, there are surely other new features and tweaks planned. The Galaxy S series is the crème de la crème of the Android smartphone market, and whatever Samsung launches today in terms of features and specifications will become the template for 2024’s flagship smartphones.

The event starts at 10 PM PT / 11:30 PM IST.

Specs and design rumors

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra appeared in a series of unboxing videos, showcasing its three official colors – Titanium Yellow, Titanium Violet and Titanium Grey. The boxes feature color-matched silhouettes of the S24 Ultra look identical to the boxes on the S22 and S23 Ultra.

The trio of videos give a glimpse of the new titanium frames on the S24 Ultra which will be exclusive this year’s Ultra models. The other notable bit Samsung decided to match the colors of the back and frame on the yellow and silver models with the former getting a golden-like frame while the latter features a silver finish. The purple version has a contrasting silver frame.

Photo quality

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra owners will enjoy much higher photo quality on social media platforms, according to a new report.

According to the well-known leaker Ahmed Qwaider, Samsung has formed a “new partnership” with Meta to enable the 2024 flagship smartphone to upload and display HDR photos on Facebook and Instagram. This partnership will finally allow Android users to upload and display HDR content—a feature currently available only on iPhones
