Why Jigawa Governor Appoints Two Media Aides After 3 Years without Any
Jigawa State governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar on Tuesday suddenly appointed Habibu Nuhu Kila as special adviser on media and public relations while naming Ahmad Muhammad Danyaro as senior special assistant on print and social media.
This was contained in a statement signed by the secretary to the government of Jigawa State, Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini.
Nigerian Sketch noted that the governor refused to name any media aide since he was re-elected in 2019, having worked with Bello Zaki in his first term. After been sworn in as governor for the second term, he made a number of appointments but did not return Zaki as media aide nor appoint another person until now.

The governor, during a meeting with members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors a few years back, lamented that his achievements in the state were under-reported.
A media practitioner in the state Aliyu Dangida said Badaru “is not known to be media-friendly. He does not consider publicity as necessary. He does not appear willing to spend on media and public relations.

“So, if he said he is under-reported, I would say he called for it. What do you make of a governor who does not have a media middle man for three years? Is there anywhere tat is done?
“I think the governor may have learnt some lessons and ha seen reasons to do the needful.
“I only hope he gives the two appointees the necessary cooperation and tools to make their works easy for them. It is a good development really and I believe Kila has all it takes to packege the governor well if he gets allthe supports he needs.”
