Yariman Zazzau Refutes Rumour of His Appointment as New Emir of Zazzau Emirate
The Yariman Zazzau, Munir Jaafaru, has refuted the rumour making the round that he has been named as the new Emir of Zazzau, saying it was entirely false.
The Yarima’s home in Zaria was on Sunday filled with well-wishers who thronged in to congratulate and pay homage to him as the new emir.
He was, in fact, the second in the list of three that the Zazzau Emirate’s kingmakers submitted to Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-rufai, on Thursday.
Nigerian Sketch gathered that he was liked by most people in the emirate because of what they called his generous disposition, and there have been rumours that President Muhammadu Buhari was more at home with him.
However, in a video clip done by one of his associates, the San Turakin Zazzau, Surajuddeen Balarabe Yakubu, Sunday night and made available to Nigerian Sketch, the Yarima said “The government and governor of Kaduna State respectively are yet to make any pronouncement on the new Emir of Zazzau.”
Nigerian Sketch reported earlier that the kingmakers of the Zazzau Emirate had submitted a list of the three top contenders they recommend to the governor of Kaduna State who is being expected to announce one of them as the new emir soon.
The kingmakers were however compelled to reverse their initial recommendation due to controversies related to bribery allegations that arose, prompting insinuations that a top contender may be disqualified.
The Yarima is believed to still be in the race.
