ZAMFARA KILLINGS: Buhari Pretending about Divine Intervention, Says APC Chieftain

President Muhammadu Buhari has said divine intervention was needed to overcome insecurity challenges confronting Nigeria, but a top political figure in Kano State countered that Buhari does not believe in the power of prayers.

The top All Progressives Congress (APC) member in the state who does not want to be named told NigerianSketch that “Buhari has always rebuffed advice by all religious faiths in Nigeria to seek divine intervention in governing the country. He does not believe in it. He is only pretending or the minister is only saying what the president did not ask him to say.

Buhari said through the minister of state for agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri, on Saturday in Kano at the National Prayer Session for Nigeria organised by the Kano State Government that “Despite the support his government gives security agencies in terms of equipment and welfare, there is a need to seek divine intervention for the Almighty to bring an end to the challenges.”

“No doubt, Nigeria is facing security challenges and we are doing our best to support the security personnel. That does not mean we should not seek divine intervention. This prayer session is part of the interventions and I commend the state governor for this,” he added.

The special prayer session was led by the World Leader of the Tijjaniyya Movement from Algeria, Sidi Sharif Ali Ibn Arabi, grandson to the founder of the Tijjaniyya Muslim sect, Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani.

Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed the state government’s readiness to annually invite World Islamic Leaders and organize prayers for peace and stability in the country.

He said the prayer is needed to seek divine intervention and for God to grant the security agencies more strength and strategies to resolve the insecurity facing the country.

Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero prayed for peace and stability to reign in the land.
