Zaria Now Vulnerable, Unsafe, Zazzau Emir Cries Out

The ancient city of Zaria has been under the siege of bandits who unleash persistent terror on citizens and residents, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamali, has lamented.

The emir decried the security challenges occasioned by banditry and kidnapping in the city of Zaria, calling on security personnel and agencies to rise up to the challenge and put an end to situation.

He said the current security situation was unacceptable, adding that residents of Zaria feel vulnerable and unsafe, as children can no longer go to school because bandits are moving about unchecked.

The emir spoke when heads of security agencies in the state led by the state’s commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan, visited his palace on Monday.

Aruwan said the security heads’ visit was to douse tension and build the confidence of residents of Zaria, adding that they also came to commiserate with the Emirate over the recent spate of attacks and kidnappings of residents in the area, assuring the Emir that there is a heavy presence of security in the 12 local government areas that make up the Zazzau Emirate..

Zaria has been the focus of bandits and kidnappers who operate unhindered of recent, and Aruwan submitted that security agency may not be able to tackle the situation without communal collaboration.
